Hurricane Milton slammed Florida’s Gulf Coast the night of October 9th as a powerful Category 3 storm before moving across the state. Three days after Hurricane Milton made landfall, Florida residents started returning to their homes, many still without power, while gas shortages and flooding persist. It will be a long road to recovery, as many communities will live with the aftermath of Milton for months.

Growing up, Sarah, the Founder of Roar into the Void, spent time in Indian Rocks Beach, just down the road from Clearwater. With her family she would hike through the IRB bird sanctuary, stop for breakfast at the French Bakery, and collect fossilized sharks teeth from the beach. Growing up, she would often visit her grandparents over the Sunshine Bridge in Bradenton, FL. There she would climb their grapefruit tree in the winter to pick the hard to reach ones for her grandmother. Her first job after college was working at a local marina in St. Pete. Though Sarah no longer lives in Florida, she still has family there. Thankfully they all made it safely through the storm.

As images of the devastation stream in from loved ones and news outlets, Sarah wants to help those hit hardest by both recent hurricanes. Living in the Midwest, the best way she could think to help was by creating clothing with a cause. Thus Roar into the Void was born.

    Sarah has always had a passion for art. She has partnered with and created art for a Chicago based variety show, Kickstarter campaigns, ran a traveling community art program called DrawingLove, developed a line of D&D inspired artwork, showcased sculptures at an art cooperative, and briefly moonlighted for a photography startup.

    Sarah believes in art as a change agent, which is why she’s here.
